The Chadar is a winter trail trek, in Zanskar region of Ladakh, in Jammu and Kashmir. In the local language Chadar means blanket, an ice sheet wrapping the River into solid. Temperature decrease creates a solidifying passage on the icy Zanskar river. The Chadar Trek is done on the Frozen Zanskar River which provides an access trail to the Zanskar Valley and is used by locals and tourists during the winter seasons an ideal route of transportation. The walls both side of the riversides rise vertical cliffs up to 600m. high and at some places the Zanskar river is only 5m wide. During the summer this river becomes a perfect location for river rafting expedition and during the winters it transforms into an ice sheet where the Chadar trek is performed. For many years Chadar trek attracts tourist from all over the world and it is one of the most exciting and challenging trek. The trek is approximately 105 km. on feet, an average trekker completes a distance of 15-17 km everyday. At first one have to reach Leh, then Leh to Chilling 3-4 hours drive. Chilling is the last motor able place. From Chilling to Tilat Do is an hour trek. Following day Tilat do to Gyalpo is about 9-10km. and takes 4-5 hours to reach Gyalpo.

How to Reach

By Flight

Flights to Leh are available for booking all year round, even in winters. The Leh Airport is a military airport and security checks are a little more stringent than usual. Please carry a printout of your e-ticket before entering, failing which you might be denied entry. From the airport, you can easily get taxis that will take you to your hotel/resort.

Road/Self Drive

For adventure lovers around the world, hitting the road to Leh is a dream they look forward to living at all times. They may pick up a motorbike, a jeep, an SUV or try to tackle this journey on a bicycle, but driving to Leh is certainly an adventure. You can either take the (lower) road from Jammu and Kashmir or the (higher) road from Rohtang La via Keylong and Sarchu.

Booking and payment Policy

Terms and conditions are the same for all members, you have the option of booking and payment on our website www.ambikahimalayasexpedition.com. You can pay 50% of the amount for reservation of service seats in which 100% is non-refundable.The other amount is payable on the same day after the entry in the camp.Once you book an event with the Ambika Himalayas Expeditions, which represents the unconditional acceptance of our terms and conditions. The fact of the matter is that whatever you choose, adventure activities, such as trekking, adventure camps, expeditions, biking, bike tours The Ambika Himalayas Expeditions Team makes the best for reducing all types of risks, and accidents.

Documents on medical qualification

All participants will have to make a medical certificate signed by an MBBS doctor that the person is fit for adventure camp, trekking, cycling, bike tour and other adventure activities. Only the person who participates medically fit will participate in adventure activites.

Itinerary Changing Programs

For the safety and well-being of all the trekkers, there is always the main concerns of “Ambika Himalayas Expeditions”. In pursuance of this responsibility, we have the right to amend or cancel this program due to weather conditions or change from time to time due to personal health problems by the participants. Ambika Himalayas Expeditions, will not be responsible for the weather, health related, political issues.We ensure you a memorable time with us !. Give you information about the change in the travel program as soon as possible, the first job of “Ambika Himalayas Expeditions” will be. If any person is coming out of the program voluntarily / effortlessly, then no refund will be given on behalf of “Ambika Himalayas Expeditions”.

Behavior of all participants in Trek

All participants are required to behave in a mutually acceptable way of adventure. In the case of a group, if any person in any case of abusive behavior, that person’s journey will be terminated, in such situation, the final decision will remain by the leader of the group. And no refund will be made for any unused services from that time onwards.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation Fee 25% of total cost before departure of 30 days or more per person.
  • Departure 29-25 days before 50% of the total cost.
  • 100% of the total cost when the departure is less than 20 days ago.
